DIY My first selve made Greenery in Sweden

This is the first year I started sawing seeds inside early March. Maybe a little too early because the snow left late, beginning of April. But despite of that, with some help of me, a lot of them managed to get outside. Some carrots, rocketsalat, basil, onions and some flowers. Now they have to grow in the kitchen garden. We started to make one in the back of the garden. Because of the deer we need to fence it. I really hope they will succeed. Keep my fingers crossed.

DIY Elderflowersyrup

Yes, we made it ourselves... and it is very easy going. It is very nice when you are thirsty on a hot summer day.

You need:

• 10-20 elderflower blossom (pick them in June on a dry day)
• 1 lemon
• 600 gr sugar
• vanille essence
• 6 dl water

Even more flowers wil make it more tasty. You need the sugar to keep it over longer, you can use less when you drink it soon (in 1-3 days).

How to fix:

• Clean the lemon, make slices. Put it with the flowers in a big pan or small but clean hink.
• Cook the water with the sugar till the sugar has disappeared. Put in just a little vanilla essence.
• Put all together with the flowers and cover it.
• Leave it for 3-4 days in normal room temperature.
• Take of all the flowers with a sief and put the syrup in clean cooked bottles.

You can even make summerpunch out of it, just put in some white wine and soda just before drinking. Cheers!

A queen page in my garden

I have never seen this butterfly before, a Queen page. I heard about it, it's not often seen. Today it landed on a flower in my garden. What a natural beauty! I found out you can see it in Sweden when you are lucky....

My Lovely Garden life

What a nice weather, what a nice spring, what an energy. A lot of things to do, but what a fun. Everything is growing, flowering and celebrating live. Like me, this is what I dreamed about 😍

What should you do when it is a very hot day and you have to go (for business) to Stockholm. Of course, just make a combination if possible. Just go out of the city center (too hot) and travel to Drottningholm. Just enjoy the views and the fresh water....

After work start garden dreams

Smelly roses, a rhododendron full of purple flowers, lupine in all colors...
I found i very old Iris and it is still flowering beautiful, though it had to go to the nursery for some time. It is really an old fashioned flower, like many grandmothers had some time ago.

Finally we can enjoy all the work we did in the years before. It was a lot of work to make it a garden again. It took almost two years to take away all the weeds and make borders again. But now you can more and more see results. And now it's time for the nice work, planning and planting in a nice way. The dream is to create a Piet Oudolf Garden, a garden in a natural way with grasses and flowers being beautiful whole the year. Even in winter because of a nice silhouet.

But it will still be a puzzle, because it is very poor forest soil, which contains to much acid for a lot of plants. But we will find out, time to experience...

When you are in Göteborg, you have to visit the Trädgård föreningen. This time i was in the graden in Spring, maybe the most beautiful time of the year. You can just walk around, go for some presents in the shop, have a coffee of take a look into the palmhouses. Just enjoy!

Too nice weather outside to sit inside to make a weblog....😂 / väder är för fint ute att sitta inomhus vid datamaskin...

Blåsippa

Javisst, det är vår igen… Jag må gå ut strax. Det finns redan blomster, Snödropper växer redan in snön och Crocus blommar vid förste solstrålen. Vad härlig att se färger igen. Men jag såg också en special växt. Vilken fin blomster, jag har hittat en Blåsippa (Anemone hepatica syn. Hepatica nobilis), eller "blåviringen" i min trädgården. Den finns i södra och mellersta Skandinavien och i södra Finland. Och hos mig, i Småland.  Den växer på torr skogsmark, mest i lövskogar och i granblandskogar. På dessa växtplatser visar sig inga blommor så tidigt på våren som blåsippan. Redan under snösmältningen börjar den öppna sina varmt mörkblå (någon gång violettröda, sällan vita) kalkar. Och det stämmer, det var bara några solstrålen i min trädgården och den har börjat blomma.

Glad Påsk från Småland / Happy Easter from Småland

Today I decorated my home with some Easter branches. It is really looking good! They think that habit is from the bibles history. When Jesus came into Jerusalem they strew palm leafs on the roads and the people had palm leafs in their hands. In Sweden they take in Birch or Willow branches  and they decorate them with eggs and feathers.
Today Easter in Sweden is a mix form old and new, popular belief and religion. But in the first it is spring celebration day with family and friends. Every one has holiday, travels a lot and have a good meal together.
Easter Eve is the most important day with Easter, just like Christmas Eve. The celebrating is interwoven med big Easter eggs filled with sweeties and Easter food with a lot off eggs. I  wish you a Happy Easter!

Idag pyntade jag mitt huset med Påskris. Det ser jättefint ut! Man tror att Påskris kommer från Jesu intåg i Jerusalem då man strödde palmkvistar på vägen och hade palmkvistar i händerna. I Sverige tar vi in björkris eller sälg och dekorerar riset med ägg och fjäder.

Idag är Påsken i Sverige en blandning av gammalt och nytt, av folktro och religion. Men framförallt är påsken en vår högtid man firar med familj eller vänner. Då vi är lediga från jobbet, reser mycket och äter gott. 

Att Påskafton i Sverige kommit att bli den stora ”firardagen” under Påsken kan troligen ses som en parallell till Julafton. Påskafton förknippas i Sverige ofta med Påskägg fyllt med godis och Påskmat med ägg. Jag önskar er en glad Påsk!
